Luther Vandross Movie...Luther....
I think its high time we get a film tribute about Luther Vandross. He has done so much for music and I think its time we get a movie profiling his life in music, his family life..music life...personal etc...I mean we got a James Brown film isnt it time we have a Luther film...And if you agree who do think should play the role of Luther...? Maybe me...I'm only kidding...but what do you think people. If we get more people on this topic maybe the film industry honchos will do something..

I would love to see a movie about Luther. Don't know who could play him though, his voice was unique
A Luther Vandross Movie would be great! But I don't know who would play him, who ever it is it has to be someone who can pull it off Luther was funny and quick witted, and and perfectionist in his craft all at the same time.
As a white Canadian guy Luther was everyting I wished I could be. What a tragedy to lose him so young. How horrific for his mother to outlive all of her children. If there is a God what is the deal?
I should play Luther.
yes i agree, also need some luther on blu ray
There was a guy on Oprah recently ( maybe Nov 09) who even looked a little like Luther. Im sure its in Oprah archives of her show. They had a lot of contestants and Oprah had the winning 3, then narrowed to one. Gladys Knight was one of the judges, and although the guy sang a Luther song, she said she liked the fact that he put his own spin on it. He was excellent! There were 2 white guys, I think one had just lost his job, and the other was a school teacher. He blew them away too, cuz he was this skinny, little ,nerdy looking guy with this huge voice. Its worth checking out.
My only requirement of a Luther movie is that they have plenty of shots of him when he was slim. He may have been gay, but damn he was fine when he was slim!!!!!! Yeahya!
The nearest I've seen to a movie, is the 'Tribute to Luther Vandross' on YouTube', which is very nicely done.

I would like a movie! It would be great.
Hi everyone, I think the idea is great. Maybe even a play? I think Rubben Studard can play young Luther when he was on Sesame Street and the Apollo.... Let me ponder over this as well. It's late, will get back with y'all
Being a huge fan of his and having most of his rare 70's music and background music he sang on during that time I think it would be great to have a movie. You would have to include the circumstances of his birth and how he almost died during childbirth. Then his playing the piano at age three and some of his family moments leading up to his father's death. Then you gotta put the aftermath of his father's death because that was a turning point in his life. We know he lived a brief time in Philadelpia then moved back to New York. Then show how Robin Clark,Fonzi Thornton,Carlos Alomar,Diane Sumler,Anthony Hinton his core group of childhood friends got together and sang in school and joined Listen My Brother workshop at the Apollo Theatre. The group playing amateur night at the Apollo and being on the first episode of Sesame Street. Luther going to college for a year and leaving to follow his musical ambitions. Luther crying after watching the movie Love Story has to be in the movie because he said that was where it began his emotional response in writing music. His 1972 song he wrote In This Lonely Hour might have reflected his feelings after this movie. The movie has to have the meeting with David Bowie and singing backup on his album and going on tour. Then his recording contract with Cotillion Records and touring then eventually getting dropped from the label in 1977. Add in the movie his jingle and backup singing and singing lead vocals for various disco session groups. Change album and singing with Roberta Flack leading up to his debut album in 1981. The rest is history. Oh yeah the person to play his part could be Jaime Foxx,Denzel Washington, or Forrest Whitaker. You would have to have an actor that could play big Luther and skinny Luther.
What a supers idea!
Altough I dont think there is 1 person who could live upto the incredible man!
The best thing i've seen is a fella called Harry Cambridge.
He won the Stars In There Eyes competition on the tv here in England.
I also see him him live 1 night at a tribute show.
Great performer and he done Luther proud but it's just not the same.
i would love 2 see a movie bout his life
I agree, a Movie of Luthers life would be wonderful, a great tribute to the man, where do i sign
